Taysom Hill Leads Saints To Win Over Seahawks With Four TDs

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU quarterback and current Saints tight end Taysom Hill led New Orleans to a victory over the Seattle Seahawks with a four-touchdown performance in Week 5.
The Saints hosted the Seahawks at Caesars Superdome on Sunday, October 9.
Hill scored four touchdowns to led New Orleans to a 39-32 win. It was the Saints’ second victory this season.

Three of Hill’s touchdowns came on the ground and one came through the air.
The former BYU became the third player since 1950 to have at least three touchdowns, 100 rushing yards, and a passing touchdown in a single game, joining Ronnie Brown and LaDainian Tomlinson, according to NFL Research.
Hill’s first score came with 10:54 remaining in the first half when he took a direct snap and ran up the middle for eight yards and into the end zone.
Three drives later, the Seahawks fumbled the ball on a punt and Hill recovered the ball at the Seattle 13-yard line. After a run by Alvin Kamara, Hill took another direct snap and ran the ball nine yards and across the goal line for another score.

With 36 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Hill lined up at quarterback and connected with fellow Saints tight end Adam Trautman for a 22-yard score. It was Hill’s first passing touchdown this season. The Hill-Trautman connection gave the Saints a 31-19 lead.

With 5:22 left to play, Hill broke loose for a 60-yard house call and his fourth score. Hill’s third touchdown run put the Saints up 39-32.

Hill finished the game 1/1 passing for 22 yards and a touchdown. He added nine carries for 112 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
With the win, the Saints improved their record to 2-3 this season.
New Orleans’ next game is at home against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, October 16 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on CBS.
About Taysom Hill
He entered the game with 12 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns this season. It was the former BYU star’s fourth game of the season. He missed New Orleans’ Week 3 game due to injury and returned in Week 4.
Hill entered the Seahawks game having rushed for 1,299 yards and 18 touchdowns on 233 carries during his NFL career.
Prior to his NFL career, the Idaho native was a quarterback at BYU. Hill is in his sixth NFL season, all with the Saints.
This past offseason, the ex-Cougar signal-caller transitioned from quarterback to tight end.
As a passer in the league, Hill has thrown for 2,025 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 64.2 percent completion rate. He’s also recorded 35 receptions for 390 yards and seven touchdowns as a receiver/tight end. Hill has played 66 games for the Saints.
