BYU Lands Commitment From Camp Standout Pierson Watson
PROVO, Utah – June continues to be a big month for BYU football recruiting. One day after landing a commitment from Fossil Ridge (TX) running back Landen Chambers, BYU switches to the defensive side for its latest commitment.
BYU picked up a commitment from Pierson Watson. Watson is a 2023 linebacker from Coconino High in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect holds offers from Air Force, Nevada, Weber State, Northern Arizona, and South Dakota. He isn’t currently rated in the 247Sports database.
Watson jumped on BYU’s recruiting radar last year at the summer camp on campus. He earned a Co-MVP LB honor. One year later, at BYU summer camp, Watson again impressed BYU linebackers coach Kevin Clune. He racked up another MVP recognition at linebacker but also a scholarship offer.
Watson reported his scholarship offer from BYU on June 14. He’s a nephew to former BYU linebacker Aaron Wagner (2004-2006).

Last season, Watson recorded 45 tackles, tied for the team lead in tackles for loss with seven tackles, and had two sacks for Coconino High School.
Watson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has a younger brother, Enoch, who plays quarterback at the same high school. Enoch is a 2024 recruit who also participated in BYU’s summer camp earlier this month.
With the addition of Watson, BYU is now up to six commitments in the 2023 recruiting class.
