SALT LAKE CITY – Aggie fans can start making travel plans as Utah State football announced the first month of game times for the 2022 season.

Many pundits projected the Aggies to be rebuilding in 2021 after a coaching change brought in Blake Anderson from Arkansas State. Instead, Utah State began the season by winning their first three games, including a hard-fought road win over Pac-12 opponent Washington State.

After back-to-back losses at home against Boise State and BYU, the Aggies reeled off five straight wins before falling to Wyoming, again at home.

Utah State would go on to decisively dismantle San Diego State 46-13 to win their first Mountain West Football Championship. The Aggies closed the 2021 campaign with a 24-13 ‘upset’ over another Pac-12 opponent, the Oregon State Beavers in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl. It was the Aggies first bowl win since defeating North Texas in the 2018 New Mexico Bowl.

Utah State is scheduled to open their 2022 slate when they host the Connecticut Huskies at Maverik Stadium on August 27.

UConn Huskies (1-11, Independent) Saturday, August 27 2 p.m. (MST) FS1

The Huskies 1-11 record was tied with UMass for the worst independent finish in 2021.

With the return of starting QB Logan Bonner for the Aggies, Utah State will look to start the season off on a positive note against the lowly independent. This will be just the second matchup between the two programs. Utah State defeated the Huskies 38-31 back in 2001.

@ Alabama Crimson Tide (13-2, SEC) Saturday, Sept. 3 5:30 p.m. (MST) SEC Network

The Tide are coming off of a National Championship loss at the hands of conference foe Georgia.

This will be the season opener for Alabama, presenting Utah State with an opportunity to upset the perennial powerhouse. With Bryce Young returning at the quarterback position, Alabama will present a formidable early season test to the Aggies.

The Aggies are 0-2 all-time against the Crimson Tide. The most recent loss was a 35-3 disappointment in 2005.

Weber State Wildcats (6-5, Big Sky) Saturday, Sept. 10 TBD

UNLV Rebels (2-10, Mountain West) Saturday, Sept. 24  5 p.m. (MST) CBS Sports

UNLV finished 2021 in the cellar of the Mountain West- West division.

Despite their struggles, Utah State had to overcome a pair of Rebel second half leads on their way to a 28-24 win in Las Vegas. The victory gave the Aggies their sixth straight over the Rebels.

Dating back to 1971, Utah State has enjoyed an 18-7 record against UNLV. Since joining the Mountain West prior to the 2013 season the Aggies are 5-0 against UNLV.

@ BYU Cougars (10-3, Independent) Thursday, Sept. 29        6 p.m. (MST) ESPN

A good old fashioned in-state rivalry could be the last matchup between the programs for a while as BYU will join the Big 12 conference in 2023.

Utah State couldn’t slowdown Tyler Allgeier and the Cougar running game in a 34-20 BYU win in Logan last season. The Aggies have dropped two straight against BYU and will look for their first win in Provo since 2018.

Air Force Falcons (10-3, Mountain West) Saturday, October 8 – Kickoff TBD, Fox Sports Networks

Air Force finished second in the Mountain West- Mountain division behind Utah State with a 10-3 record, winning their final four games.

The Aggies are 4-6 all-time against the Falcons and 4-5 since joining the Mountain West.

@ Colorado State Rams (3-9, Mountain West) Saturday, Oct. 15 5 p.m. (MST) CBS Sports

Utah State upended the Rams in a 26-24 thriller last season.

These two programs have a long history against each other as the Aggies are 36-39-2 all-time against Colorado State.

@ Wyoming Cowboys (7-6, Mountain West) Saturday, Oct. 22 Kickoff TBD – Fox Sports Network.

Wyoming went into Maverik Stadium last season and upset an Aggie team riding a five-game winning streak. The Aggies will look to exact revenge as they travel to Laramie in 2022.

The Aggies are 40-27-4 all-time against the Cowboys.

New Mexico Lobos (3-9, Mountain West) Saturday, Nov. 5  1:30 p.m. (MST) CBS Sports

The Aggies decimated New Mexico in 2021 to the tune of a 35-10 final score.

All-time, Utah State enjoys a 15-13 record against the Lobos.

@ Hawaii Rainbows (6-7, Mountain West) Saturday, Nov. 12 TBD

San Jose State Spartans (5-7, Mountain West) Saturday, Nov. 19 Kickoff TBD, Fox Sports Networks

After a strong 2020 season, San Jose State fell to fourth in the West division in 2022.

Utah State fell behind early against the Spartans last season before scoring 24 second quarter points on their way to a 48-17 win. The Aggies trail in the all-time series 19-20-1.

@ Boise State Broncos (7-5, Mountain West) Friday, Nov. 25 – 10:00 a.m. (MST) CBS

Utah State previously announced that their game against Boise State will be aired on CBS Friday, November 25. It will be an early kickoff in Boise and the game is set to start at 10 a.m. (MST).
