SALT LAKE CITY – Maikel Chang delighted the fifth straight RioT sellout crowd with a 55th minute goal that evened the score with Austin FC 1-1.
Real Salt Lake returned to Rio Tinto Stadium where they hosted Austin FC on Saturday, May 14.
After failing to capitalize on a number of excellent first half scoring opportunities, Real took advantage of a Dani Pereira red card that left Austin FC playing a man down for much of the second half.
In the 55th minute Justin Meram found Maikel Chang for his first goal of the season. It was the second assist of the season for Meram.

The goal was a welcome sight for Real after squandering chance after chance on net in the first 55 minutes.
Real has struggled mightily in recent weeks after a fast start to the season as injuries have taken their toll on the teams depth. The. Claret & Cobalt have not scored more than a single goal in more than a month. RSL’s last 2+ goal performance came in a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC on April 9.
