Draft Analyst Calls Utah’s Devin Lloyd Clone Of Former BYU LB Fred Warner

SALT LAKE CITY – PFF lead draft analyst Mike Renner compared Utah Utes linebacker Devin Lloyd to NFL star and former BYU linebacker Fred Warner.
Renner called Lloyd a clone of the San Francisco 49ers standout that is an alum from Utah’s rival school.
“Someone may have cloned Fred Warner to create Devin Lloyd,” the draft analyst said.

Renner currently has Lloyd projected as first round selection by the New England Patriots with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Lloyd is projected by the majority of NFL mock drafts as a first round pick.
About Devin Lloyd
The Chula Vista, California native played for the Utes from 2018-21 and never faced Warner in the BYU-Utah rivalry game.
During his Utah career, Lloyd had 256 total tackles, 150 solo tackles, 16.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, five interceptions, eight pass breakups, and three touchdowns.

About Fred Warner
Prior to his time in the NFL, Warner played at BYU, the rival school of Lloyd’s Utah.
During his four seasons in Provo, the linebacker recorded 264 total tackles, 158 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and two touchdowns.
Warner was selected by the Niners with the No. 70 overall pick during the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

In his four seasons with San Francisco, the former BYU standout has posted 504 tackles, 332 solo tackles, 4.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, three interceptions, 25 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 64 games.

Warner was selected to the Pro Bowl and honored as a first-team All-Pro in 2020.
2022 NFL Draft
The draft is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 28-30.
It will be broadcast on ESPN and NFL Network.
