Weber State Football Hires Mickey Mental As Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach

SALT LAKE CITY – Weber State head coach Jay Hill announced that Mickey Mental has been hired as the Wildcats’ next offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Weber State announced the addition of Mental to Hill’s staff on Friday, February 11.
Mental joins the Wildcats after spending the past two seasons as the head coach at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio.
“Mickey brings a lot of play-calling experience and success to us and we are really excited to have him as our offensive coordinator,” Hill said of Mental in a statement. “He has done a great job of developing quarterbacks and has head coaching experience with great success. We are extremely lucky to have him and he will help our need to be dynamic and explosive on offense.”

Notre Dame College is a Division II program. The Ohio native coached at Notre Dame College for 13 seasons, including five years as OC.
“Weber State has been one of the premier programs in FCS football the last several years and I’m excited to be here,” Mental said. “Any time you can work with good coaches that love their players and love football, it’s very attractive for me and my family, and we are excited to be part of this program.”
As head coach of the Falcons, Mental recorded a 16-2 record and MEC Championship in the spring of 2021. During the 2021 fall season, Mental led the Falcons to an 11-2 record and a playoff berth. He was honored as MEC Coach of the Year.
Last season, the Wildcats had a 6-5 record, including 5-3 in Big Sky Conference games.
Weber State currently opens its 2022 schedule at Utah State on Saturday, September 10. The Wildcats have an open date on September 3.
