SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell broke the ankles of Herb Jones during Utah’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Pelicans hosted the Jazz at Smoothie King Center on Monday, January 3.
With 8:45 to go in the third quarter, Mitchell crossed over Jones before pulling up for a 17-foot stepback jumper. Mitchell’s move caused the Pelicans rookie to fall to the hardwood.
Mitchell’s bucket gave the Jazz a 64-55 lead.
