Rudy Gobert Swats Two Shots On Single Possession During Wizards/Jazz Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz center Rudy Gobert rejected a pair of shot attempts during the opening minutes of Utah’s game against the Washington Wizards.
The Jazz hosted the Wizards at Vivint Arena on Saturday, December 18.
With 9:59 left in the first quarter, Gobert blocked a layup attempt by Washington’s Daniel Gafford.
Four seconds later, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year prevented another layup by Gafford.

With the blocked shots, Gobert passed Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki on the NBA’s all-time blocks list. Gobert is now No. 54 on the leaderboard and sits 11 blocks behind former Jazz center Greg Ostertag. He is also the third in blocks Jazz history and sits behind only Mark Eaton (5th all-time) and Andrei Kirilenko (41st all-time).
The Jazz led 17-7 when they called a timeout with 6:36 left in the opening quarter. Gobert had three rebounds and two blocks in five minutes on the court.
This season, Gobert is averaging 15.3 points, 14.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 0.8 steals per contest.
