SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz were unable to get stops down the stretch and saw their eight-game winning streak end with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

First Quarter

The Spurs came out blazing hot in the first quarter willing to shoot over the Jazz defenders wh were choosing to go under San Antonio screens.

That got the Spurs offense going as Doug McDermott and Lonnie Walker combined to hit 4-6 threes in the opening frame.

However, the Jazz offense responded thanks to a balanced effort, led by Rudy Gobert who had six points in the quarter.

After one, the Jazz led San Antonio 37-36.

Second Quarter

The Spurs continued their hot three-point shooting in the second quarter, knocking down 5-14 from deep, but collapsed inside the arc.

San Antonio knocked down just 2-12 from inside the three-point line for 16 percent.

Meanwhile, Mitchell and Jordan Clarkson found their scoring touch in the second quarter, combining for 18 points on 7-12 shooting.

At the break, the Jazz led the Spurs 73-59.

Third Quarter

The Spurs came out aggressively in the second half looking to make up for their poor third quarter.

They continued to shoot the three well and were more dialed in on their mid-range shots missing just two of their 14 attempts inside the arc.

The Spurs’ success on the offensive end allowed them to get back on defense where they held the Jazz to just 23 third quarter points, including 2-10 shooting from downtown.

After three, the Spurs led the Jazz 100-96.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz went back-and-forth with the Spurs during the final 12 minutes of action. However, Utah was unable to get stops on the defensive end.

Mitchell was unable to hit a potential game-winning triple at the buzzer and the Jazz fell by two.

With the loss, the Jazz fell to 20-8 this season, including 10-5 at home.

Utah’s next game is at home against the Washington Wizards on Saturday, December 18 at 7 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet, NBA League Pass, and The Zone Sports Network.
