Riverton Pulls Off Upset Over No. 12 Mountain Ridge

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Riverton Silverwolves picked up a massive road win with a 24-21 upset over No. 12 Mountain Ridge on Friday night.
The Sentinels scored first before Riverton scored 17 points in the second quarter. Mountain Ridge scored a touchdown to pull within three early in the fourth but couldn’t find the end zone again.
Jake Meyers and Codee Walton each threw a touchdown pass, finding Logan Dunfield and Josh Jacobson. Meyers also ran in a TD.
Here are all of the results in the 6A classification from the ninth week of the high school football season.
Region 1
No. 22 Farmington 21 @ Fremont 7 (Thurs.)
Kenyon Brown ran in two touchdowns for the Phoenix in their win over the Silverwolves. Easton White also threw a touchdown pass to Mitch Nielsen. Fremont’s lone touchdown was a pass from Cannon Kofford to David Calvert.
Layton 14 @ Syracuse 19 (Thurs.)
Syracuse had a 14-7 halftime lead and was able to hold off Layton in the second half. Brevin Hamblin threw a TD pass to Dylan Croxford and also ran in a score for the Titans. Garrett Gifford had two touchdown passes to Trey Reid and Nicolas Sanders.
No. 7 Weber 35 @ Davis 9 (Thurs.)
The Warriors were up 7-3 at halftime before pouring in 21 points in the third quarter. Aidan Carter had the lone TD pass for Weber to Jett Hill. Cannon DeVries, Logan Payne, Aisea Moa and Amari Swain all ran in touchdowns. Jackson Stevens found Hunter Anderson for Davis’ only touchdown of the night.
Region 2
Granger 20 @ Roy 50 (Thurs.)
Roy dropped 21 points in the first quarter and never looked back. Parker Kingston had a KR for a TD, along with a rushing touchdown. Kobe Bennett added three rushing TD’s. Ethan Ecker had two scores on the ground for the Royals.
Cyprus 15 @ Hunter 22
The Pirates had a 9-0 halftime lead but was only able to score six points in the second half. Hunter needed 15 points in the fourth quarter to pick up the win. Omarian Jackson, Kenyon Jackson and Solomone Tauteoli all ran in touchdowns for the Wolverines. Julius Tikoisuva returned a kickoff for a touchdown to start the game for Cyprus.
Region 3
No. 20 West Jordan 0 @ No. 6 Bingham 42
An impressive win for the Miners to shutout a top-25 team in the state. Dallen Martinez threw a touchdown pass to Gage Sundloff, while also running for a TD. Havea Foto and Nate Elison each added two rushing scores for the Miners.
Copper Hills 3 @ Herriman 33
The Mustangs had a 13-3 lead going into the fourth quarter but put the game away with 20 straight points in the final period. Michael Falatea ran in two touchdowns. Nu’u Tafisi and Manaia Brown each scored a rushing TD, while Dom Martucci had a pick-six.
Region 4
No. 3 Lone Peak 41 @ No. 1 Corner Canyon 16 (Thurs.)
Lone Peak snapped Corner Canyon’s state record-tying 48 straight wins with a big performance.

No. 5 American Fork 41 @ Westlake 0 (Thurs.)
Maddux Madsen threw five touchdown passes, finding Fisher Ingersoll twice, along with once each to Noah Moeaki and Trey Roberts. Madsen also ran in a TD.
Pleasant Grove 0 @ No. 2 Skyridge 31 (Thurs.)
McCae Hillstead threw three touchdown passes, connecting with Jack Hadfield twice and once to Josh Davis. The star QB also ran in a score on the ground.
