The welcome news comes following a shock exclusion from the national team squad ahead of the much anticipated European Championship that was conducted earlier this summer.
However, Rusnák’s admission comes following a run of good form for Real Salt Lake. This season, Rusnák has scored seven goals while adding nine assists which is good enough for tied most on the team alongside full-back Aaron Herrera.
Slovakia has played in six World Cup Qualifiers to date, unfortunately, they currently sit last in their group behind Czech Republic, Scotland, and Israel respectively. Slovakia’s only win came against Cyprus on September 7th.
The addition of Rusnák provides Slovakia with added depth in the midfield and attacking third. Slovakia is in need of help in the goal-scoring department having only scored on 5 occasions throughout the first 6 games, they have conceded 10 goals for a goal differential of -5. They are the only team in their group that has a negative goal difference.
Rusnák will not miss any games for Real Salt Lake. The international games will be played during an international window where Major League Soccer has not scheduled any games to be played.
Next RSL Fixture
On Wednesday evening, Real Salt Lake will host LA Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium. The Galaxy is two points ahead of Real Salt Lake in the fifth position.
Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and can be streamed for free on the KSL Sports & KSL 5 TV app or on KSL Sports dot com.
