SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Legendary Real Salt Lake member Trey Fitz-Gerald has returned to the club and takes over as the Director of Communications.
“I am excited to be back officially,” Fitz-Gerald told Andy Munoz of KSL Sports & The RSL Show. “Obviously everyone knows how much this club has meant to me, Utah has been my home for the past 17 years and I am excited for what we think is going to be a new era for Real Salt Lake,” he added.
Fitz-Gerald was previously a member of the Real Salt Lake organization from 2004 to 2018 and was one of the founding employees of the club when it first arrived in Utah. He joined the club having previously worked for the league office under Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber.

Over the years, Fitz-Gerald has played a key role in assisting the club through strategic operations as it relates directly to the Communications department. He is a well-respected and regarded member of the Utah community who returns much to the joy of the local fanbase.
After departing Real Salt Lake in 2018, Fitz-Gerald left for Austria to take on a new project with a third division Austrian team FC Pinzgau Saalfelden. However, after a stint in Austra, Fitz-Gerald returned to Utah to assist the club in the transition of ownership.
Furthermore, Fitz-Gerald has also created his own podcast titled “Bleeding Claret & Cobalt” where he discusses and gives insight into the organization with the help of a variety of well-known and established guests.
Real Salt Lake is currently in the midst of a great deal of change. Major League Soccer is still conducting an ownership search, while the front office is in the market for a new manager.
The addition of Fitz-Gerald only aids both of those searches.
