Colts Announce Former Utah OL Sam Tevi Will Miss 2021 Season After Tearing ACL, MCL

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich announced that former Utah Utes offensive lineman Sam Tevi would miss the entire 2021 NFL season after tearing his ACL and MCL during the team’s final preseason game.
Reich gave an update on Tevi’s injuries on Sunday, August 29.
Tevi suffered the knee injuries during Indianapolis’ final preseason game against the Detroit Lions on August 27. The former Ute was unable to walk under his own power and had to be carted off the field.

“Sam was having a really good camp, was very competitive and a great teammate,” Reich said. “We know he’ll bounce back and I know he’ll go through the rehab process like the pro he is.”
About Sam Tevi
Before his time in the NFL, Tevi was a standout player at the University of Utah. He played for the Utes from 2013-16.
Tevi was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers during the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He played for the Chargers through the 2020 season.
In March, Tevi signed a one-year deal with Indianapolis.
The Colts open the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, September 12 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on FOX.
