Jake Gibb, Tri Bourne Defeat Switzerland For Second Straight Sweep In Men’s Beach Volleyball

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah’s Jake Gibb and his partner Tri Bourne swept Switzerland’s Adrian Heidrich and Mirco Gerson during the preliminary rounds of men’s beach volleyball play at the Tokyo Olympics.
Gibb and Bourne took on the Swiss pairing on Tuesday, July 27.
The United States duo won the match, 2-0.

After losing back-to-back set points, the Gibb and Bourne won the first set after the Swiss served the ball into the net.
The USA won set one, 21-19.

Gibb and Bourne trailed by a point or two for much of the second set before taking the lead.
It took the duo three match points, but Bourne scored the final point and helped Team USA win the match.
Gibb and Bourne won the second set, 23-21.
It was Gibb’s second match with Bourne as his partner.

The Utahn’s original parter for the Tokyo Olympics, Taylor Crabb, recently withdrew from the competition after testing positive for COVID-19.
Gibb and Bourne’s next match is against Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan on Friday, July 30 at 1 p.m. (MDT).
