Jake Gibb, Tri Bourne Sweep Italy In First Round Of Men’s Beach Volleyball In Tokyo

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah’s Jake Gibb and his partner Tri Bourne swept Italy’s Adrian Carambula and Enrico Rossi in the first round of men’s beach volleyball play at the Tokyo Olympics.
Gibb and Bourne took on the Italian duo on Sunday, July 25.
The American pairing won the match in straight sets, 2-0.
Team USA won the opening set, 21-18.

After a review on the final point of the the match, Gibb and Bourne took set No. 2, 21-19.
The duo won the contest after only practices twice together.
Gibb’s original parter for the Tokyo Olympics, Taylor Crabb, recently withdrew from the competition after testing positive for COVID-19.
