SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake is in the process of forging a partnership with European club PSV Eindhoven, Interim President John Kimball announced on a local sports radio show titled The Drive.
“We’re actually in the process of bringing PSV to Utah,” Kimball said unaware if he was allowed to make the announcement or not. “Let me take a step back quickly, we are not bringing them out as a club, rather, we are doing camps and clinics with them,” he added.
Conversations between the two clubs began after a mutual friend who currently works for the Seattle Sounders approached Kimball and told him that PSV was interested in utilizing the Real Salt Lake facilities.

“We’re in the process of figuring out how we can build a better relationship with that club [PSV]. But here is the cool thing, they reached out to us,” Kimball said.
The reasons for PSV being interested in creating a partnership with RSL is simple, they are interested in the facilities in Herriman, the production of the RSL Academy among other interests.
Furthermore, former RSL Academy player Richard Ledezma currently plays for PSV. The young 20-year-old joined the Dutch champs in 2020 after spending his youth career with RSL.
PSV is expected to fly and visit Utah next month. RSL was scheduled to visit PSV but due to Covid-19 complications in the Netherlands, that trip has been postponed.
PSV Eindhoven is a club based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and plays in the top Dutch league, Eredivisie. They have won 24 Eredivisie Championships, two major European Championships and are highly considered as one of the more formidable clubs in the world.
PSV is home to one of the world’s most respected academies. It has produced Dutch international and recently signed Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, among others while the first team has been home to the likes of Ronaldo.
