SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU and current San Francisco 49ers lineman Corbin Kaufusi joined video game phenom Ninja in playing “Fornite” on behalf of Operation Underground Railroad in the @TwitchRivals #StreamerBowl.

Operation Underground Railroad helps rescue children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Ninja, whose real name is Tyler Blevins, owns a number of records in the gaming community regarding viewership of his streams, including the length of time spent viewing, and most viewers for a single stream. He has 16.7 million followers on Twitch, 24.2 million subscribers on YouTube, and 6.5 million followers on Twitter.

This is not Ninja’s first time playing video games with a local athlete. In 2020, Blevins and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell played “Call of Duty” together.

“It’s GO TIME for the @TwitchRivals #StreamerBowl2! @Ninja @BeastAFK and I are competing for @OURrescue and kids around the world,” Kaufusi tweeted on February 4.

“What a day!” Kaufusi posted later in the day. “Didn’t come out with a dub but what a great experience with the crew @Ninja and @Beast_AFK imma be practicing and whenever y’all wanna run it between now and next year, let’s do it! Raised fist let’s go #StreamerBowl3”

Corbin Kaufusi’s NFL Career

Kaufusi joined San Francisco on January 15.

Prior to his time in the NFL, Kaufusi played at BYU from 2016-18.

After his time in Provo, Kaufusi went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Following the Draft, Kaufusi signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints. He was released by the Saints during the final roster cuts before the 2019 season.

Kaufusi was signed by the New York Jets a practice squad player in October 2019. Two months later, he signed a Reserve/Future deal with the Jets.

In September 2020, the Jets waived Kaufusi before re-adding him to the practice squad.

Kaufusi is joining a Niners team that went 6-10 in the 2020 season.
