SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The San Francisco 49ers announced that they’ve signed former BYU defensive lineman and current NFL offensive lineman Corbin Kaufusi to a Reserve/Future contract.

The Niners made the news official on Friday, January 15.

“Excited and grateful for the new opportunity,” Kaufusi tweeted.

Prior to his time in the NFL, Kaufusi played at BYU from 2016-18.

After his time in Provo, Kaufusi went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Following the Draft, Kaufusi signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints. He was released by the Saints during the final roster cuts before the 2019 season.

Kaufusi was signed by the New York Jets a practice squad player in October 2019. Two months later, he signed a Reserve/Future deal with the Jets.

In September 2020, the Jets waived Kaufusi before re-adding him to the practice squad.

Kaufusi is joining a Niners team that went 6-10 in the 2020 season.
