Real Salt Lake’s Aaron Herrera Receives First Cap For US Men’s National Team

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake right0back Aaron Herrera has received his first start for the US Men’s National Team (USMNT) ahead of their friendly against Trinidad & Tobago this evening.
It is the first time Herrera has been called into the senior national team camp and the first start of his career. He will be playing at the senior level for the first time in his career.
Herrera becomes the fourth RSL Academy player to don the stars and stripes joining Corey Baird, Richie Ledezma, and Sebastian Soto.

Herrera’s call-up came off the back of the 2020 MLS season where was voted as the RSL Defensive Player of the Year by his teammates after he notched 1,706 minutes played, 49 tackles and 42 dribbles completed and was second on the club with 36 interceptions and nine blocks.
He has been one of the best players on the pitch for RSL for a number of years.
The USMNT squad consists of entirely MLS players ahead of this evening’s friendly. Herrera is the only RSL representative.
The upcoming fixture against Trinidad and Tobago will be available to watch at 5 p.m. on January 31st on FS1.
