USU LB/DE Elijah Shelton Announces Commitment To Utah Football

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State linebacker/defensive end Elijah Shelton announced his commitment to the Utah Utes football program.
Shelton shared his decision to transfer to Utah via a social media post on Friday, January 22.
“Honored to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at my hometown school, the University of Utah!” Shelton tweeted. “Thankful for every individual that made this possible. Go Utes.”
Shelton first announced his decision to transfer on January 13.

Shelton will join the Utes after spending 2018-20 on Utah State’s roster.
He played in one game as a freshman in 2018.
As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Shelton appeared in nine games.
Last season, the defender played in five contests.
During his career with the Aggies, Shelton recorded 41 total tackles, 17 solo tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery.

Prior to his college career, he was a standout player at Highland High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Shelton will join a Utah team that finished the 2020 season with a 3-2 record.
