Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz Start Game Against Detroit Pistons With Multiple Big Runs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz opened their game against the Detroit Pistons with multiple large scoring runs in the first quarter.
The Pistons hosted the Jazz at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday, January 10.
Mitchell was aggressive to start the contest and scored seven of Utah’s first nine points as part of a 9-0 Jazz run to begin the game.
The 9-0 took place over the first 2:30 of game time.

Mitchell scored his seven points on 3/3 shooting, including 1-1 from three.
In addition to scoring, he had one block.

Mike Conley scored the other two points of Utah’s 9-0 start.
Not only was Utah hot on offense to start the game, the Jazz limited the Pistons to 0-5 shooting to open the contest.

Later in the quarter, the Jazz exploded for a 17-0 run to add to their total.
Utah’s largest lead of the first quarter was 20 points.
At the end of the first 12 minutes of action, Utah owned a 34-19 lead.
At the end of the first quarter, the @utahjazz lead the @detroitPistons 34-19.
Pistons Jerami Grant had 11 points on an efficient 3-5 shooting, but was outplayed by Donovan Mitchell's 13 point first.

The Pistons entered the game with a 2-7 record, including 2-3 at home.
The Jazz came into the contest with a 5-4 record this season and are 4-2 on the road.
