SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz look to play consistent basketball during their upcoming game against the Detroit Pistons.

The Pistons are scheduled to host the Jazz on Sunday, January 10.

Utah has only won back-to-back contests once through nine games to start the 2020-21 season.

Win vs. Bucks

After dropping consecutive games in the middle of the team’s current road trip, the Jazz picked up a big win over the Milwaukee Bucks on January 8.

One of Utah’s strengths against the Bucks came from behind the three-point line as the Jazz buried a franchise-record 25 triples in the win.

“More than the total number, the balance is something thatโ€™s significant,” Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said after the game. “Weโ€™ve got a lot of guys who can make shots. Weโ€™ve been banging that drum from the beginning. We want guys to shoot.”

Donovan Mitchell

Following some disappointing outings, Donovan Mitchell was one of the guys to shoot against the Bucks. Mitchell was 12/24 on field goals for 32 points.

The fourth-year guard’s success is key to consistency for the Jazz.

โ€œThis is what I expect to play like every night as far as being able to distribute the ball, I think I had one turnover all night,โ€ Mitchell said. โ€œBeing able to make the game easier myself this is how I expect to play.โ€

Favors and Gobert

One of the lineups seldom utilized this season has been the duo of Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors. After Snyder’s use of Gobert and Favors against Milwaukee, the possibility of seeing the pairing against the Pistons is more likely.

โ€œWe havenโ€™t seen it as much because matchups and games havenโ€™t dictated it as much,โ€ Snyder said of Gobert and Favors playing together. โ€œBut we know what those two guys can do.โ€

Detroit’s frontcourt of Mason Plumlee and Blake Griffin presents an opportunity to see significant minutes of Gobert and Favors together after the two were on separate teams last season.

Detroit Pistons this season

This season, the Pistons own a record of 2-7.

Detroit started its schedule with four straight losses before picking up a victory.

The Pistons dropped three more before upsetting the Phoenix Suns in overtime after they trailed by 23 points during the contest on January 8.

Jazz vs. Pistons

The Jazz haven’t lost to the Pistons since the 2015-16 season.

Utah listed Jarrell Brantley and Juwan Morgan as “OUT” against Detroit. Joe Ingles was listed as “QUESTIONABLE” after missing the game against the Bucks.

Utah’s game at Detroit will tip-off on Sunday, January 10 at 1 p.m. (MDT). The Jazz are slated to wear their white “Association” jerseys against the Pistons.

The game will broadcast on NBA TV, AT&T SportsNet, and 97.5 FM.
