SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Donovan Mitchell used a GIF that pretty much signals he is unimpressed with the Nuggets tweeting a graphic nicknaming Facu Campazzo … Spiderman.
The original tweet from the Nuggets features a quote from Jamal Murray about Campazzo.
“We call him spiderman because every pass he does is a one-handed slinger… He’s great. He’s going to be incredible for us,” Murray is quoted on the graphic.

Mitchell, whose Twitter handle is @spidadmitchell, has carried the Spida nickname throughout his NBA career. He told the story of how the nickname came about in an NBA Twitter video. The story isn’t very flashy, it started with a friend’s dad and just stuck.
“I had long arms and I was quick to getting a lot of steals,” Mitchell explained, “I didn’t think it would correlate to where I am now. He never called me by my first name and to this day, he still doesn’t. He’ll text me, ‘Spida, how ya doing?’ Spiderman was one of my favorites growing up and it just stuck with me. That’s where it all came from.”

Mitchell’s nickname eventually grew into the branding of his sneaker line with Adidas. There are a few versions of the DON Issue #1 and #2 with Spiderman references like the original Marvel red and blue version and the Spidey Sense shoe from the second issue.
