SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football fans can let out a sigh of relief as the Utes will finally begin the 2020 season.
They will host No. 20 USC at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday night.
Utah football tweeted out the good news on Saturday afternoon.

It was likely that the Utes were going to play but both of their previous games that were canceled were done the day before the game was scheduled. The only thing that would’ve prevented the game from being played was if a Utah or USC player tested positive on Saturday morning for COVID-19 and the amount of players that needed to be isolated due to positive tests or contact tracing that put the team below the 53 available scholarship player minimum.
USC landed in Salt Lake City on Friday night around 6:30 p.m. MT.

The Utes will wear their all-black uniforms against the Trojans, with black helmets, black jerseys and black pants. On the back of those uniforms will have seven different words related to social justice.
The seven social justice words are:
- Hope
- Enough
- Together
- Peace
- Unity
- Love
- Equality

Since Utah joined the Pac-12 in 2011, they are 6-2 when wearing the all black uniforms. The last time they sported this combination was in 2019 against Cal where the Utes picked up a 35-0 win.
Kickoff between Utah and USC will be at 8:30 p.m. MST and will be televised on ESPN.
