Utah Football To Replace Names With Social Justice Phrases On Black Jerseys Against USC

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team plans to replace the last name of players on the back of black jerseys with seven different social justice-related words for the upcoming game against USC.
The Utes are scheduled to play against the No. 20 Trojans on Saturday, November 21.
“We will wear all black uniforms this week and these 7 words will replace the names on the back of our jerseys,” Utah football’s equipment department posted on Twitter.

The seven social justice words are:
- Hope
- Enough
- Together
- Peace
- Unity
- Love
- Equality

In the video above, players like Cam Rising, Solomon Enis, Jake Bentley and more narrate the reason behind each word decided on by the Utes’ leadership council.
“Equality to me means respect and opportunity for all,” reads Rising.
Earlier this month, the team revealed the “Peace” jersey patch with a photo of running back Devin Brumfield, who was also featured in the newest video reveal.

Utah Football 2020 Season
So Far, the Utah Football team’s season hasn’t started. They have had two games canceled – against Arizona and UCLA – due to a COVID-19 outbreak on the team.
The team hopes to kick their season off against USC, in their all black jerseys, this Saturday.
