GREEN BAY, Wisc. – The Green Bay Packers are getting thin at running back for their short turnaround matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football.
Former BYU and current Packers running back Jamaal Williams will not play on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Williams is out due to COVID-19 protocol as the team placed he and rookie RB A.J. Dillion on the COVID reserve list. Williams being placed on the COVID reserve list does not mean he tested positive for the virus. He could be on there due to contact tracing reasons.
With the uncertainty of Aaron Jones’ status with a calf injury, the Packers are down to two healthy running backs in Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin.
Now that Packers RB Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon are out Thursday night against SF due to COVID protocols, Green Bay’s lone remaining healthy RBs are Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin.
Packers remain unsure if RB Aaron Jones will return from his calf injury vs. 49ers.

The four-year veteran has played in 7 games and has 294 games and one touchdown on the ground as well as 23 receptions for 183 yards this season.
Green Bay is currently 5-2 on the year and will face the 4-4 49ers on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6:20 p.m. MT on FOX and the NFL Network.
