BYU QB Zach Wilson Surpasses 5,000 Career Passing Yards

PROVO, Utah – BYU quarterback Zach Wilson is a part of the 5,000 yard club after reaching that career milestone against UTSA on Saturday.
After throwing for 1,578 yards in nine games as a freshman in 2018, 2,382 yards in nine games as a sophomore last season, Wilson was already at 949 yards in three games this season.
Entering this game against UTSA, Wilson needed 91 passing yards. He also needed just 51 yards to reach the 1,000 yard passing mark this season.

The Corner Canyon product is the 15th BYU quarterback to throw for 5,000 or more yards in a career.
Wilson also topped 5,000 passing yards (5,098) for his career, becoming the 15th Cougar QB to throw for 5,000+ #BYUFootball

Wilson passed the 1,000-yard mark after completing his first two passes against UT-San Antonio. He accomplished that milestone on 73 pass attempts. Wilson reached that mark in fewer attempts than any other QB in a single season in BYU football history.

In the first three games this season, Wilson had 6 passing and 5 rushing touchdowns. In his career entering Saturday, Wilson had 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Through 21 games of his career, Wilson was up to 429 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
