Micah Beckstead Leads Timpview In Upset Of No. 14 Lehi

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Timpview’s Micah Beckstead helped the Thunderbirds upset the No. 14 Lehi Pioneers 28-14 on Friday night.
Region 7
No. 18 Timpview 28 No. 14 Lehi 14
Beckstead ran for a pair of touchdowns in the game.
The Thunderbirds held the Pioneers scoreless through the first three quarters of play and led 28-0 entering the final 12 minutes of the game.
Timpview improved to 3-3 on the season with the victory.

Lehi fell to 4-3 and suffered its second loss in three games.

Region 5
No. 17 Bonneville 24 Woods Cross 17
The No. 17 Bonneville Lakers rode a 17-point first quarter to a 24-17 win over the Woods Cross Wildcats on Friday night. Lakers’ Kord Shaw ran for a pair of touchdowns in the seven-point victory. Bonneville improved to 6-1 this season and Woods Cross fell to 0-7.
Box Elder 17 at Bountiful 7
Bountiful scored first and it was their only touchdown as Corbin DuBois scored from one-yard out. The Bees scored 17 unanswered with a rushing touchdown by quarterback Parker Buchanan as well as the QB connecting with Braylon Majors.

Region 6
Murray 44 at Hillcrest 21
The Huskies scored first with a touchdown by Talon Yates on Thursday night. Murray scored 21 straight points after allowing a TD. Hillcrest scored again in the second quarter to tie the game at 14 at the halftime break. Both teams scored one touchdown in the third quarter but the Spartans took control in the fourth quarter with 16 unanswered points. For Murray, Kyler Nielsen threw three touchdowns and Nathan Nguyen added a passing TD, they connected with Conner Harris three times and once to Kade Scott. Hillcrest had a passing TD from Gabe Moore to Anthony Vail. Talon Yates added two rushing touchdowns. Murray picked up their first win of the season.
No. 6 Brighton at No. 13 Skyline
This game was canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak at Skyline.
Region 8
Spanish Fork 37 Maple Mountain 44
The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles emerged victorious from a shoot-out with the Spanish Fork Dons 44-37. The Golden Eagles outscored the Dons 18-3 over the final 12 minutes of action to come away with a seven-point win. Maple Mountain quarterback Tyler Nelson accounted for three touchdowns in the win. The Golden Eagles improved to 5-2 and the Dons dropped to 2-5.
Springville 16 No. 16 Salem Hills 13
The Springville Red Devils upset the No. 16 Salem Hills SkyHawks 16-13 on Friday night. A missed extra point and a safety forced by the Red Devils in the third quarter separated the SkyHawks from a 16-16 scoreboard and their first loss of the season. Springville improved to 3-4 on the year with the win and Salem Hills fell to 5-1.

No. 15 Wasatch 30 Provo 20
The No. 15 Wasatch Wasps rallied from a 20-13 halftime deficit to defeat the Provo Bulldogs 30-20. The Wasps held the Bulldogs scorless in the second half while scoring 17 points of their own. Wasatch quarterback Adarius Edwards threw two touchdown passes in the game. The Wasps improved to 6-1 on the season and the Bulldogs dropped to 2-4.

Payson 0 Mountain Ridge 44
The Mountain Ridge Sentinels shut out the Payson Lions 44-0 on Friday night. The Sentinels jumped out to an early lead and held a 35-0 advantage at halftime before cruising in the second half. Mountain Ridge quarterback Ayden Helm tossed three touchdowns in the contest. The Sentinels improved to 3-4 on the season and the Lions fell to 1-6.
Timpanogos 13 Alta 56
The Alta Hawks flew past the Timpanogos Timberwolves 56-13 on Friday night. Alta’s Samuel Black had three rushing touchdowns to lead the Hawks in the blowout. Alta improved to 4-3 with the win and Timpanogos fell to 1-6.
Riverton (6A) 24 Olympus 21
The Riverton Silverwolves stunned the Olympus Titans 24-21 on a game-winning field goal with 97 seconds left in the game. Wyatt Miller connected on a 21-yard field goal attempt to break a 21-21 tie and give Riverton the win. The Silverwolves improved to 4-3 with the victory and the Titans dropped to 3-4.
