Utah Royals FC Blanked By Portland Thorns FC In First Match Since NWSL Challenge Cup

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Portland Thorns FC shutout Utah Royals FC in the two clubs’ first match since the NWSL Challenge Cup in July.
The Thorns hosted the Royals at Providence Park in Portland on Sunday, September 20.
Portland scored one goal in the first half and two in the second 45 minutes to win the match 3-0.

Thorns FC players Simone Charley, Sophia Smith, and Lindsey Horan were responsible for the scores.

Portland owned the time of possession and controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
Utah had 15 shots, including three shots on goal.
The Thorns outshot the Royals with 21 shots and seven shots on goal.
Portland picked up three points with the NWSL Fall Series victory.
