SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah native and current PGA Tour member Tony Finau has positioned himself nicely following a first-round at the BMW Championship that sees him just two strokes behind the leader, Tyler Duncan.
Finau shot an even-par round of 70 that included three birdies and three bogeys, he is in a tie for fourth place currently.
However, Finau struggled with his driver, the club that is generally the most reliable for Finau. On holes three and four Finau went into the trees from off the tee resulting in an “unplayable” on the third hole.
Another drive into trees😩

Finau’s putting was what kept him alive throughout the first round. He dropped a 20-foot putt on hole 1 and a 17-foot putt on 6 that both resulted in birdies. Without those, his round would have ended in the red.
BOOM. Drains the 17 footer🐦🐦🐦🐦
Moves back to -1

This Week’s Tournament
Finau is playing alongside Billy Horschel and Joaquin Nieman. There is no cut-line this week as the top 70 players compete for a spot in the Tour Championship, the final FedEx Cup Playoff event where the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup Standings compete for glory.
The second round of the BMW Championship will begin for Finau at 11:36 a.m. off the first tee.
