SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – PGA Tour player and Salt Lake City native Tony Finau is flirting with the cut line following his second round at The Northern Trust, the first of three FedEx Cup Playoff events.
Finau shot a two-under-par round 69 during Friday’s round to finish the first two days of play a combined one-under-par.
During Thursday’s round, Finau shot a one-over-par 71.
Finau’s second-round consisted of four birdies and two bogeys. The bogeys came on holes 3 and 15 while the birdies occurred on holes 2, 10, 12 and 13.
Finau had an opportunity to make a two-putt birdie on the par 5 18th after reaching the green in two, leaving himself with a 40-foot eagle putt. The missed eagle putt left Finau with a 9-foot birdie putt, he was unable to capitalize and ultimately finished the round with a tap-in-par.
Missed 9 footer for birdie, par at 18.

Predicted Cut-Line
The predicted cut-line for The Northern Trust sits around two or three-under-par.
Finau will hope his competitors struggle during the remainder of the day on Friday if he has any intention of playing on the weekend.
Finau was playing alongside Scottie Scheffler and Kevin Streelman. Scheffler currently sits atop the leaderboard at 13-under-par following a 12-under-par second-round while Streelman is in a tie for 13th at seven-under-par.

Two weeks ago, Finau finished in a tie for fourth at the season’s first major, the PGA Championship. Following the PGA Championship, Finau opted to rest for a week before returning to the Tour this week at The Northern Trust.
FedEx Cup Standings
Finau currently sits ranked 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings.
The top 125 players in standings are competing against each other this week at The Northern Trust. Over the following two weeks, the field gradually shrinks on route to the Tour Championship.
Following the conclusion of The Northern Trust, the top 70 players in the standings are invited to the BMW Championship. Despite potentially missing the cut at The Northern Trust this week, Finau will likely still be eligible to play in the BMW Championship due to his ranking of 23 in the FedEx Cup standings.
