L.A. Chargers Select Former Orem Tiger Alohi Gilman With 186th Overall Pick In 2020 NFL Draft

OREM, Utah – The Los Angeles Chargers picked former Orem Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish safety Alohi Gilman with the 186th overall pick during the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Gilman’s name was called during the NFL Draft on Saturday, April 25.
The Fighting Irish star joined a Chargers team that posted a 5-11 record in 2019.

Prior to his college career at Notre Dame, Gilman played high school football for the Orem Tigers in Orem, Utah and Kahuku High School in Laie, Hawaii.
During his time in South Bend, the safety played in 26 games for the Irish. He recorded 169 total tackles, 91 solo tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.
After he was drafted, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly tweeted a photo of Gilman and himself as well as a message.
“One of the most inspirational leaders in our locker room, Alohi Gilman, is heading to the Chargers,” wrote Kelly. “That makes four Fighting Irish playing for the Bolts. Alohi will surely make an impact in the backfield. Maika’i Loa and mahalo, Alohi!”

He measured the following at the NFL Scouting Combine:
Height: 5′ 10″
Weight: 201 lbs.
Arms: 30 7/8”
Hands: 9 1/4”
At the Combine, Gilman recorded the following results:
40-yard Dash: 4.6 seconds
Bench Press: 17 reps
Vertical Jump: 32.0 inches
Broad Jump: 119.0 inches
3-Cone Drill: 6.81 seconds
20-Yard Shuttle: 4.08 seconds
