SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One family decided to name their newborn baby after the former University of Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley.

Curtis Barton shared a photo of his new daughter via Twitter on Friday, March 27.

“Meet our new daughter: Huntlee,” Barton tweeted. “Name is inspired by Tyler Huntley.”

Huntley responded to the photo of baby Huntlee tweeting, “Awww.”

During his senior season, Huntley threw for 3,092 yards, had 19 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He led the Utes to a Pac-12 South title, the Pac-12 Championship Game, and an appearance in the Alamo Bowl.

Huntley, along with other former Utes who recently completed their Utah careers, is waiting to find out the next step in his football career during April’s NFL Draft.

The draft is scheduled to be held from April 23-25.

Other Babies Named After Former Local QBs

Baby Huntlee isn’t the first newborn to be named after a former local college QB. During the 2019 football season, multiple people posted on social media announcing their newborns were named after former BYU and current New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill.

Kyle Meyers from Lousiana and his wife, who is a native Utahn, named their child Taysom after the former BYU quarterback.

Darren Burnthorn tweeted that his nephew,  son of Kevin and Chastin Hudson, was also named Taysom after the Saints QB.
