Daniel Sorensen Seals Chiefs Victory Over Chargers With Interception

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former BYU and current Kansas City defensive back Daniel Sorensen intercepted Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers in the final minute to seal a victory for the Chiefs.
Sorensen picked off Rivers late in the fourth quarter at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, December 29.
The former Cougar DB jumped in front of a pass intended for Los Angeles wide receiver Keenan Allen and returned the ball six yards to the Chargers’ 44-yard line. The INT sealed a 31-21 win for Kansas City.

Sorensen finished the game with 5 total tackles, 4 solo tackles, and a pass breakup.
The late-game interception was Sorensen’s second pick of the season. Sorensen’s first INT of the year came against the Chargers and sealed another win for Kansas City, 24-17 on November 18.
On the season, Sorensen has recorded 57 total tackles, 44 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 pass breakups.
The Chiefs improved to 12-4 to close out the regular season. Kansas City won the AFC West Division and clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Los Angeles finished the regular season with a disappointing 5-11 record after going 12-4 in 2018.
Fellow former BYU DB and current Charger cornerback Michael Davis recorded an interception earlier in the game.
