Jazz Officially Acquire Clarkson For Exum, Waive Green

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – In a series of transactions, the Utah Jazz traded guard Danté Exum to the Cleveland Cavaliers for guard Jordan Clarkson and waived forward Jeff Green.
Utah’s swap of Clarkson and Exum as well as Green’s release took place on December 24.
The Jazz acquired Clarkson in exchange for Exum and two future second round picks. The trade will be finalized once the players involved have passed physicals.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the draft compensation sent to the Cavs consists of a 2022 pick (via San Antonio) and 2023 pick (via Golden State).
Exum departs the Jazz organization after playing in 215 games over six seasons in Utah. The guard appeared in the starting lineup 68 times including 41 starts during his rookie season. Exum was selected by the Jazz with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
During his time with Utah, Exum posted averages of 5.7 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.7 rebounds in 18.7 minutes per game.

Clarkson joins the Jazz in the midst of his sixth NBA season. He’s played for the Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers. The former Cavalier has played 411 games since his rookie year in 2014-15. Clarkson’s started 138 games in his career although he’s only appeared in the starting unit twice since the 2016-17 season.

The veteran guard was selected out of Missouri with the 46th overall pick during the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. He holds career averages of 14.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 23.0 minutes per game.
Green leaves the Jazz franchise having played 29 games for the team during the 2019-20 season. The forward appeared in the starting lineup twice during his time with Utah. Green recorded 7.8 points and 2.8 boards per game this season.

In a related move to Green’s release, the Jazz have reportedly signed forward Rayjon Tucker out of the G-League.
Tucker is an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas Little-Rock. He’s averaged 23.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists with the G-League’s Wisconsin Herd.

The Jazz haven’t officially announced the addition of Tucker.
