Salt Lake City, UTAH – The Utah High School Activities Association has released its final RPI ranking for the 2019 football season. The Beaver Beavers earn the top seed in the 2A classification after an undefeated season.
Beginning with the 2019-20 academic year, the UHSAA changed the seeding format for the state tournament for baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
Previously, the top four teams from each region earned bids to the postseason, but in the new RPI format, every team earns a spot in the postseason. Seeding is determined based on RPI rankings.
RPI is based on winning percentage, opponents winning percentage, and opponents’ opponents winning percentage.
First Round Byes
In the new format, teams can earn first round byes in the state tournament. In 2A, three teams earned byes in the first round: Beaver, Milford, and Millard.
