BYU Athletic Director Responds To Jersey Ideas From Tennessee Teen
PROVO, Utah – The 17-year-old Tennessee fan that has now been endeared himself to the BYU fan base for his jersey ideas has now caught the attention of BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe.
Lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan Ryan started creating uniform ideas for the Cougars after having a great experience with BYU fans in Knoxville earlier this month.
BYU fans were blown away by Ryan’s jersey ideas for their beloved Cougars. Not only did Cougar fans raise money for Ryan and his family to travel to Provo next month for the Cougars home game against Boise State, but they also were tagging BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe linking up to Ryan’s jersey ideas.
“Ok… we (BYU Football, Equipment, Marketing, Athletics, etc.) receive numerous suggested uniform/helmet designs each year. It’s fun. I like it! However, we have a great relationship with Nike, who designs our uniforms a year in advance for our BYU teams,” said Holmoe.

BYU will be debuting a new uniform this weekend against No. 22-ranked Washington on Saturday in LaVell Edwards Stadium. According to BYU’s director of licensing Adam Parker, the white jersey with royal blue numbers had been in the works for well over a year.
Saturday’s uniform will be only the third alternate jersey the Cougars have worn in a game since 2009. So it’s not often the Cougars divert from their traditional looks. But maybe, one of these years 17-year-old Ryan can see one of his jersey ideas appear in a BYU football game down the road.
