SANDY, Utah – It was just a matter of time until reigning MLS Cup champion Atlanta United came alive and found the net in the match against Real Salt Lake.
In the 78th minute, with RSL leading 1-0 after a nice goal by Bofo Saucedo, Atlanta finally struck when Josef Martinez scored on a dish by Franco Escobar.
Atlanta found its way into the RSL defending zone when Escobar tapped a centering pass to Martinez, the team’s leading goal-scorer. Martinez did what he does best and finished the play to knot the score up at 1-all.

Atlanta came into the match red hot, having won seven of its last nine matches. RSL was also streaking with two straight wins coming into the matchup.
RSL striker Sam Johnson was kept out of the Starting XI, but was inserted into the match immediately after Martinez’s goal.
