Richfield Wins 3A Baseball State Championship

KEARNS, Utah – Richfield High earned the 3A prep baseball state championship with a 9-3 victory over Summit Academy in the championship game at Kearns High.
It was the second win of the tournament by Richfield over Summit Academy as the two teams met in the semifinals of the winner’s bracket on Friday.
After losing to Richfield 8-4 on Friday, Summit Academy won a narrow 8-7 decision over Union Saturday morning in the one-loss bracket to force a rematch in the championship game.

However, for the second time in two days, Richfield got the best of Summit Academy, this time for the state championship.
The Wildcats took the crown thanks to two-RBI games by Emmitt Hafen and Jake Shepherd. Morgan Albrecht got the win after throwing for 4.2 innings in which he allowed just one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts.
