Monarchs Fall To Undefeated Fresno At Home

HERRIMAN, Utah – The Real Monarchs nearly tied the game late with plenty of chances to score, but were unable to equalize the score in a 4-2 loss to the Fresno Football Club.
The Monarchs struck first in the match with a goal by the team’s leading scorer Maikel Chang, in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, Fresno would score the next three goals to take a huge lead going into the dramatic last final minutes of the game.
Christian Chaney tied the game up with his first goal of the game in the 27th minute to force a knotted score at halftime.

Once the second half began, the Monarchs had an unfortunate moment as they scored on their own net to give Fresno a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute. Just minutes later, in the 61st minute, Chaney completed his brace with a close range shot off his left foot.
Josh Heard kept the Monarchs alive with a goal off a corner kick in the 84th minute to cut the lead in half. Just a minute later, his teammate Mastanabal Kacher nearly tied the game up but his shot was just off.
From there, Fresno was on the attack for the rest of the match and added an insurance goal in the 90th minute on a shot in the box by Jemal Johnson.

With the win, Fresno remains undefeated with a 3-0-4 record. The Monarchs fall to 3-4-2 record overall.

The Monarchs have a bye next week and will travel to face the OKC Energy FC on May 18.
