Utah, BYU Headed To Baton Rouge For NCAA Regionals

Mar 26, 2019, 4:43 PM

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Red Rocks are headed to the Baton Rouge regional in the NCAA Tournament. They’ll face Minnesota, BYU and Arkansas in the first session.

Utah finished second at the Pac-12 behind UCLA last week at the Maverik Center in West Valley City. It’s been a strong year for the Utes, who have scored over 197.000 in every single match this year, a first in program history.

Led by junior and two-time national champion, MyKayla Skinner, who scored a perfect 10 on the floor in the conference championships, the Red Rocks will enter the Nationals as the sixth-ranked team in the country.

The Cougars will enter Nationals as the 14th ranked team in the nation. The Cougars have also performed well, led by junior Shannon Evans, who was named Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference gymnast of the year and coach Guard Young, who was named the conference’s coach of the year.

The regionals for both squads and their competitors are scheduled to take place from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge from April 4th-6th.
