ATLANTA, Ga. – Known as a great second-half player, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell really picked it up in the third quarter against the Atlanta Hawks.
While Mitchell’s 16 points in the first half weren’t anything to scoff at, it was a pair of highlight dunks in the third quarter that really lit a fire under his team.
His first dunk in the second half came to pass after Mitchell stole the ball off a bad pass from Atlanta’s Kevin Huerter.

Just a couple of minutes later, off a steal by Derrick Favors, Mitchell lifted off once again for a powerful, scissor-kicking jam.

In the third quarter, the Jazz severely outclassed Atlanta, outscoring the Hawks 37-21 in the period. Mitchell scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the third.
Unfortunately for Utah, the Jazz were unable to put the Hawks away, as Atlanta mounted a comeback in the final minutes.
With the Hawks up 117-114 with seconds remaining, Mitchell flew out of nowhere to grab a rebound off a missed free throw by Kyle Korver and took a shot at a would-have-been game-tying triple. His shot, however missed as the Hawks escaped with the win.
Mitchell finished with 34 points.
