Porter, Queta Help Aggies To Halftime Lead In MWC Title Game

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – In a first half that saw Utah State and San Diego State holding a lead that wasn’t larger than five points, the Aggies took a 34-32 halftime lead over the Aztecs in the Mountain West Championship Game.
Utah State was working the ball down low in the post to Queta early on and working the ball from inside out. The Aggies had a 7-5 lead, just five minutes into the game.
Abel Porter had the hot hand midway through the first half with 10 points, including 4-for-4 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from downtown.
With four minutes left in the opening half, San Diego State made four straight field goals and took a one point lead.
The Aggies countered with some big buckets and had a 30-26 lead, forcing the Aztecs to call a timeout with 3:16 left in the half.

Out of the timeout, Watson made a three-pointer and was fouled. He tied up the game with a made free-throw.
Queta led the Aggies in the first half with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Sam Merrill made 3-of-9 from the field and recorded 9 points.
Watson finished with 12 points in the opening half to lead the Aztecs.
