PROVO, Utah -The No. 14 ranked BYU basketball team returned home to the Marriott Center and blew the doors off Evansville

The nation’s top team in three-point made field goals added another 13 triples to their total in the win.

First Half

13:39 – Evansville started hot from the field making their first three field goals, but the Cougars are hammering them on the glass. The three-point shot isn’t falling early with BYU only making one of their first six attempts. Credit to the Purple Aces for cutting hard in the paint. All but two of their points have come in the paint. Aly Khalifa is leading the way for the Cougars. He’s up to seven points at the first timeout.  BYU 14, Evansville 10

11:04 – BYU’s offense is heating up. They’ve made three straight shots from deep. It started with Khalifa, then Dallin Hall and Trevin Knell after that. Evansville is having a hard time stopping this up-tempo offense and the Cougars are in the midst of a 15-0 run.  BYU 24, Evansville 10

6:23 – Evansville finally ended a 17-0 BYU run after going six minutes without a point. Antonio Thomas made the first three-point shot of the game for Evansville.  BYU is cooling off from deep where they’re now shooting only 33 percent from behind the line.  BYU 31, Evansville 19

3:57 – Atiki Ally Atiki ended a three-minute scoring drought for BYU with a nice patient post-move. Evansville is hanging around, but they’ll need to rebound better to threaten the Cougars. They are being out-rebounded by eight. BYU has missed their last four shots from the three-point line which is helping the Purple Aces stay within striking distance.  BYU 33, Evansville 22

BYU basketball in the second half

15:04 – Things are getting ugly for Evansville. They haven’t scored in three minutes now. The BYU offense found its groove late in the first half, and it’s carried over to the second half. BYU is shooting 51 percent from the field. Six different players for BYU have scored at least seven points. Trevin Knell continues to show his value to this team. He’s up to eight points now after a beautiful euro-step layup.  BYU 60, Evansville 29

11:59 – BYU has four players in double-digit scoring. Jaxson Robinson hasn’t scored a point in the second half and BYU continues to build their lead. It’s a suffocating offense that scores in bunches.  BYU 69, Evansville 33

8:31 – Another double-digit run has the Cougars leading by 43 points. It’s time to empty the bench. There’s no need to risk injury. BYU has made 13 three-point shots while shooting at 50 percent from deep. This offense is scary.  BYU 81, Evansville 38

3:35 – BYU has five players now in double figures. Atiki Ally Atiki is up to 11 points. He had a nice two-handed dunk since the last timeout. The Cougars are plus 24 from the three-point line. Evansville had no answer for the up-tempo offense.  BYU 89, Evansville 49

Final Score: BYU 96, Evansville 55
