Jazz Guard Collin Sexton Speaks On Trade To Jazz, All-Star Plans

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz Point Guard Collin Sexton recently spoke about his time so far in Utah and his plans for All-Star weekend.

Collin ‘Young Bull’ Sexton has one of the best nicknames in the NBA. He said that the name dates all the way back to his high school days.

“It started back in high school,” Sexton said. “It just stuck. Whenever I’m out there, I see red.”

Sexton is known for being a high-energy guard who gives it all on both ends of the floor. According to him, he couldn’t play the game any other way.

“I just play with passion and love for the game,” Sexton said. “At the end of the day, it’s something I’ve been doing all my life.”

From Cleveland To Salt Lake City

Being traded is something that not all players have to go through. Sexton said that he came to welcome the change of scenery.

“It was definitely different,” Sexton said. “It was something that was difficult at first. Sometimes, you just have to adapt and roll with the punches. You have to figure it out when you get there. That was something that I did. I feel like adversity and getting out of your comfort zone is not always bad.”

After a little more than half a season, Sexton already feels at home. He had high praise for Jazz fans.

“The most difficult moment was my injury,” Sexton said. “Anything can happen at any time. I’m very thankful for the Jazz picking me up. Just being here in Utah, you can feel the love from everyone in the organization. But also, the fanbase. The fans here are amazing.”

Collin Sexton At All-Star Weekend

With All-Star weekend right around the corner, Sexton said he’s going to stay in town for the festivities.

“Im going to have a few events and a few pop-ups,” Sexton said. “I’m also going to be here supporting my teammates. For Friday, (Walker) Kessler. Saturday, we’ll probably have (Jordan Clarkson) and Lauri (Markkanen) doing something. Just being here for my teammates and showing them support.”

With the recent trade that sent Mike Conley to Minnesota, Sexton will participate in the Skills Challenge alongside Jordan Clarkson and Walker Kessler.
