Chicago Bears Place CB Jaylon Johnson On Injured Reserve

SALT LAKE CITY – The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve placed former Utah Utes cornerback Jaylon Johnson on Injured Reserve, ending the defensive back’s 2022 season.

The Bears made the transaction on Friday, December 23.

“Placed cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Kindle Vildor on injured reserve, ending their seasons,” the Bears said. “Johnson (finger/ribs) had been listed as questionable on the injury report for Saturday’s home game against the Bills after being limited in practice Thursday.

The former Utah standout was limited to 10 games this season due to injury.

In 2022, Johnson recorded 35 total tackles, 28 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and seven pass breakups.

The Bears currently own a 3-11 record and sit in fourth place in the NFC North division. Entering Week 16, Chicago had the second-worst record in the league behind the 1-12-1 Houston Texans.

The Bears are on a seven-game losing streak.

Chicago’s Week 16 game is at home against the Buffalo Bills. The game is broadcast on CBS.

About Jaylon Johnson

Before his time in the NFL, Johnson played at the University of Utah from 2017-19.

During his time with the Utes, the Fresno, California native had 102 total tackles, 88 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions, and 28 pass breakups in 39 games played.

He was named First-team All-Pac 12 in 2018 and 2019.

Following his college career, Johnson was selected by the Bears with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

This season, Johnson had 19 total tackles, 16 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and three pass breakups.

During his three seasons in the league, the former Ute has recorded 125 total tackles, 99 solo tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and 31 pass breakups in 39 games.
