Utah Valley Earns Fifth-Straight Win With Antelope Valley Rout

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Valley cruised to an easy victory, increasing their season high winning streak to five games with an 80-54 win over Antelope Valley.
Utah Valley (8-4) hosted the undefeated Antelope Valley Pioneers (10-1) at the UCCU Center in Orem, UT on Friday, December 16.
UVU came in riding a four-game winning streak. The Wolverines easily dispatched of SAGU American Indian College 100-54 earlier in the week.
Antelope Valley ran by Benedictine University at Mesa in their last game, winning 97-69.
First Half
Utah Valley took advantage of 1-for-8 shooting from the Pioneers to open a 9-2 lead in the opening minutes.

UVU threw a balanced attack at Antelope Valley as four of five Wolverine starters scored before the first timeout as they started 4-of-9 from the field.

The Wolverines would go cold over the next few minutes, missing eight of nine shots at one point as Antelope Valley went on a 8-0 run to take a 14-13 lead
Justin Harmon ended the run with a driving layup that put the Wolverines back in front. Tim Ceasar followed with a quick three as the UVU lead grew to 18-14.
Utah Valley followed a Pioneer free throw with a pair of free throws and two Cam Alford lay-ins. Alford scored six straight to give his team a 26-15 lead with 7:11 left in the half.

Two baskets from Tyler Murrell got the Pioneers within seven but Tim Fuller and Trey Woodbury combined for a 7-0 run to take a 33-19 lead with 3:56 in the half.
UVU’s lead would grow to 37-20 at the half.
Second Half
Utah Valley would enjoy a double-digit lead throughout the second half ass they pulled away from the Pioneers.

Woodbury’s 17 points led all scorers as three Wolverines reached double-figures. Blaze Nield added 14 points. Justin Harmon scored 13. Aziz Bandaogo finished with a team-high 12 boards.
Michael Hayes was the only Pioneer to cross the double-digit barrier, finishing with 15 points. Levonte Ott added eight points in the loss.

The Wolverines pack up and head to Eugene, Oregon where they will face the Pac-12’s Oregon Ducks (6-5) at Matthew Knight Arena on Tuesday, December 20. Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (MST).
