After that run ended, Utah went on a 17-3 run to bring their lead to 39-31 with under two minutes left in the opening half. The Utes took a 39-34 lead at the halftime break. Branden Carlson was the only Utah player to score in double figures in the first 20 minutes with 10 points to go with four rebounds. Marco Anthony added six points, five rebounds, and three assists. Rollie Worster chipped in five points, three rebounds, and three assists.

The Runnin’ Utes shot 53% from the field and 33% from the three-point line. UTSA was led by Japhet Medor with 15 points, along with 10 points from DJ Richards. The duo combined for 25 of UTSA’s 34 first-half points.

Second Half

Utah decided in the second half to not let UTSA stick around and have a chance to get an upset road win. The Runnin’ Utes outscored the Roadrunners 32-14 in the first 12 minutes of the second half and held a 71-48 lead.

Utah never looked back at that point.

The Runnin’ Utes improved its record to 9-2 overall with wins over Westminster, Long Island, CSU Bakersfield, Idaho State, Georgia Tech, St. Thomas, Arizona, Washington State, Jacksonville State, and UTSA. Their losses came against Sam Houston State and Mississippi State.
