PROVO, Utah – Logan Fano is the latest BYU football player to enter the Transfer Portal. Fano is a former four-star recruit who signed with BYU in the 2021 recruiting class.

Fano announced his intentions to enter the portal via social media.

“I want to thank BYU for the lessons I’ve learned and the brothers I’ve made. After a lot of prayer, and careful consideration I have decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal,” tweeted Fano.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect was slotted to play defensive line off the edge for BYU. He redshirted in 2022 due to an ACL injury he suffered in the first week of spring practices. After his first two college practices, he was already lining up with the first-team defense.

Fano has had an interesting relationship with BYU. He was one of the first recruits Kalani Sitake’s staff offered when Sitake took the BYU job in 2016. Fano received that scholarship offer in 8th grade, and shortly after, he committed to BYU. Then during his recruitment as a Timpview High star, Fano backed off his pledge and opened up his recruitment.

Schools such as Michigan, Oklahoma, Washington, and Utah were all in the mix. However, Fano ultimately returned to his commitment to BYU in the class of 2021 and signed with the Cougars. Shortly after graduating from Timpview, Fano served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Antonio, Texas.

BYU is now up to six transfer portal entrants during the 2023 cycle. Fano joins TE Dallin Holker, QB Jacob Conover, OL Campbell Barrington, WR Terence Fall, and LB Tate Romney.
