SALT LAKE CITY – The New Orleans Saints announced that they’ve signed former Utah Utes linebacker Nephi Sewell from the franchise’s practice squad to the team’s active roster.

The transaction occurred on Thursday, November 10.

“The New Orleans Saints have signed…linebacker Nephi Sewell to the active roster from the practice squad,” the Saints said in a statement. “Sewell, 6-0, 226, had spent the entire regular season on the practice squad until this date.”

With his elevation to the active roster, Sewell will join fellow former Utah standout Chase Hansen on the 53-man list.

Sewell’s promotion comes ahead of the Saints’ Week 10 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers are slated to host the Saints at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, November 13 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on FOX and NFL Sunday Ticket.

This season, the Saints have a 3-6 record, including 1-2 on the road. Pittsburgh will take a 2-6 record in the Week 10 contest with New Orleans.
